Egypt's Sisi approves financing deal for Gabal El Asfar wastewater project

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has approved a financing agreement between Egypt and the French Development Agency (AFD) worth €50 million, alongside a €1.5 million grant from AFD and a €10 million grant from the European Union (EU).
The funds will support the third phase of El Gabal El Asfar wastewater treatment plant project. The agreement was signed on March 25, 2024.
The project is part of Egypt's broader efforts to expand wastewater treatment capacity and enhance sustainable infrastructure to meet growing demand.
