Egypt's Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy has instructed the preparation of a medium-term plan for natural gas inputs used as feedstock in petrochemical projects, the ministry said on Monday. Speaking at the general assembly of the state-owned Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Co. (Ethydco) to review 2024 results, Minister Badawy highlighted the importance of innovation and technology in producing high-value petrochemicals to strengthen export competitiveness. ETHYDCO, one of Egypt's largest petrochemical complexes, said it is preparing to install a 500-kilowatt solar power station as part of efforts to expand renewable energy use. The minister also praised ETHYDCO for ranking ninth globally in process safety standards, according to an assessment by consultancy DNV.
