Egyptian Ethydco complex to produce polyethylene H2 2016; Sidpec head says

The petrochemicals complex of the Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Company (Ethydco) is expected to start producing polyethylene and its applications during the second half of 2016.
Chairman and CEO of Sidi Kerir Petrochemicals Company- Sidpec -that own 20 percent of Ethydco's shares with $135 million- Osama Mahdy told Amwal Al Ghad Sunday that the targeted capacity is estimated at 400,000 tonnes of polyethylene annually.
Ethydco is currently conducting the trial of the project in addition to supplying Sidpec with large amounts of ethylene, Mahdy stated.
The project is established on the space of 170 feddans with investments worth $2 billion jointly between petroleum sector and a number of national banks.
It encompass four projects: a project for producing ethylene with the capacity of 460,000 tonnes per year and another project for producing polyethylene with the capacity of 400,000 tonnes annually.
The complex also includes a project for producing butadiene with the capacity of 20,000 tonnes annually and other project for to produce 26,000 tonnes of butadiene derivatives per year.
