Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has directed senior government officials to protect and preserve the heritage of state radio and television. He ordered the conversion of all audio and video tapes owned by the National Media Authority into digital formats and the use of this content on a planned digital platform. Sisi also instructed the preparation of a global website for the Holy Quran Radio to safeguard the legacy of Quran reciters and religious performers, as well as to protect numerous programmes broadcast on the station since its launch in 1964.
