Egypt has approved a $7 million grant from South Korea to fund a new Digital Heritage Centre in Cairo, according to a presidential decree No. 118 of 2025 published in the official gazette on Thursday. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi signed off on the agreement. The funding comes through a partnership between Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities and the Korea National University of Cultural Heritage. The project aims to enhance the documentation, digitisation, and conservation of Egypt's rich historical and archaeological assets. The move is aligned with Egypt's strategy to leverage international cooperation and technology to boost its cultural economy and tourism sector. The presidential decree follows prior approval by the Cabinet and is grounded in Article 151 of the Egyptian Constitution, which governs the country's foreign agreements.
