Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met on Monday with Indian Ambassador to Cairo Suresh K Reddy to discuss expanding cooperation in healthcare, pharmaceutical technology and vaccine production, the health ministry said. Talks focused on opportunities for Indian companies to partner with Egyptian factories and firms, as well as joint projects to advance local vaccine and medicine production in line with the African Union's push to strengthen regional pharmaceutical manufacturing. The meeting reviewed the partnership between Egypt's state-owned Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (VACSERA) and the Serum Institute of India, with both sides agreeing to explore wider collaboration with Indian pharmaceutical firms. Minister Abdel Ghaffar invited Indian officials and companies to attend the Global Congress on Population, Health and Development (PHDC'25) in Cairo from November 10 to 13, and to tour Egypt's pharmaceutical and vaccine facilities to assess investment prospects. Ambassador Reddy praised Egypt's role in the African health sector and said India was committed to expanding strategic cooperation in pharmaceutical technology and vaccine production to support regional health security and sustainable development.
