Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty met Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya on Monday on the sidelines of the extraordinary session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah. The two ministers praised the momentum in Egypt-Kuwait relations, stressing the deep-rooted fraternal and strategic ties between the two countries. They welcomed the results of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi's visit to Kuwait in April 2025, describing it as an important step in advancing cooperation. They underlined the importance of building on this momentum to achieve further progress in various fields, particularly economic and investment cooperation, in line with the aspirations and interests of the two peoples. On developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, the ministers reiterated their full rejection of Israel's ongoing assault on Gaza and condemned its policies of starvation and civilian killings. Abdel-Aty outlined Egypt's efforts, in coordination with Qatar, to reach a ceasefire, ensure unrestricted humanitarian aid access, and work towards the release of hostages and detainees. Abdel-Aty reaffirmed Egypt's categorical rejection of any attempts to reoccupy Gaza or impose demographic changes. He also highlighted Egypt's hosting of the International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction of Gaza, aimed at mobilising financial support for the Arab plan, ensuring Palestinians remain on their land, and reinforcing their right to establish an independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. The talks further addressed several regional issues of priority, noting the intertwined challenges facing the region. Both ministers stressed the importance of bolstering joint Arab coordination and supporting political and diplomatic solutions to restore security and stability for the region's peoples.
