Egypt's General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) head Ahmed Taha held a meeting with a delegation from Aceso Global as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of Egypt's healthcare reform and to boost collaboration with international partners. Taha reaffirmed GAHAR's commitment to strengthening private sector participation in Egypt's Universal Health Insurance System, highlighting the importance of fostering an enabling environment—especially in primary care, which he called the cornerstone of the new healthcare model. He stressed that integrating private providers under the universal health insurance system reflects the government's vision for a unified, high-quality healthcare framework accessible to all citizens without discrimination. As the insurance system rapidly expands nationwide, Taha noted that practical mechanisms are needed to facilitate private providers' inclusion in a way that closes service gaps and ensures equitable healthcare access. He also highlighted that adherence to GAHAR's accreditation standards—internationally recognised by the Health Standards Organisation (HSO/ISQua)—is crucial to building public trust in healthcare facilities and encouraging utilisation, thereby sustaining the economic viability of health institutions.
