Egypt's General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) is forging strategic partnerships with leading international organisations, notably Expertise France, to support Egypt's healthcare system development in line with global standards and 2030 Vision, stated GAHAR Chairman Ahmed Taha. The announcement came during a meeting between Taha and a high-level delegation from France's technical cooperation agency Expertise France, led by Deputy Director General for Operations Cassilde Brenière. The discussions focused on supporting the rollout of Egypt's Universal Health Insurance System and enhancing the capabilities of healthcare facilities to meet national accreditation and quality standards. Taha emphasised the importance of quality and patient safety as the foundation of universal health coverage, highlighting plans to strengthen evaluation teams, enhance oversight mechanisms, expand smart digital solutions, and introduce performance-based organisational models. He noted that implementation of the new insurance system follows a flexible timeline tailored to each governorate's healthcare needs. He also praised the growing number of accredited facilities, many of which have received internationally recognised certification from ESCWA. The Expertise France delegation commended GAHAR's efforts and pledged ongoing support through the transfer of technical expertise and development of advanced training programmes aligned with global best practices.
