Egypt's Minister of Tourism Sherif Fathy launched the country's first digital training platform dedicated to tourism and antiquities under the name EGTAP, according to the Cabinet announcement. The platform aims to upgrade sector workers' skills, support the state's digital transformation agenda, and offer accredited training programmes designed to build capacity among employees in the ministry and across the public and private sectors. It also serves researchers and students in related fields. Fathy emphasised that the platform is a key component of a wider strategy to modernise government operations through advanced technologies and digital tools. He highlighted the role of human capital development in enhancing service quality and global competitiveness in Egypt's tourism sector. EGTAP.com offers a flexible, online learning model allowing users to study anytime, anywhere. Upon successful completion of training programmes, participants receive accredited digital certificates. The platform also plans to connect high-performing trainees with job opportunities in the private tourism sector. The initial content includes live-streamed courses, with recorded programmes to be added soon. Topics span sustainable tourism, food safety, marketing, hospitality, and more. Continuous updates are planned to keep pace with industry needs. Fathy expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and its team, including Minister Amr Talaat, for their role in developing the technical infrastructure.
