Egypt's National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) and a high-level delegation from Pakistan's Punjab Province held talks in Cairo on Monday to boost cooperation in food safety and sustainable agriculture. Tarek El-Houby, NFSA chairman, received Punjab's Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Syed Muhammad Ashiq Hussain Shah Kirmani, along with senior officials including Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo. The discussions focused on sharing expertise in food control systems, enhancing export standards, and launching joint training initiatives. Kirmani praised Egypt's advanced food safety framework and NFSA's leading role in the region, voicing Pakistan's interest in expanding technical collaboration and learning from Egypt's regulatory experience. El-Houby affirmed Egypt's readiness to offer full technical support, including specialised training, joint workshops, and field visits, to help build Pakistan's food safety capacity. The two sides also emphasised the importance of institutional integration in food safety and agriculture to support food security and achieve sustainable development goals in both countries.
