Egypt and China signed a series of cooperation agreements on Thursday spanning debt-for-development swaps, human capital development and support for persons with disabilities, according to a Cabinet statement. The deals were inked during a high-level ceremony attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Chinese Premier Li Qiang. They were signed by Egypt's Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat and Chen Xiaodong, head of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA). The agreements include a strategic development cooperation framework for 2025–2029, plans to enhance local production of assistive mobility technologies through a new Center of Excellence for persons with mobility disabilities, and letters of exchange for the establishment of a Biosafety Level 3 laboratory in Egypt. The two sides also agreed to boost collaboration on human resource development and explore further avenues of economic cooperation under China's Global Development Initiative.
