Egypt's Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania Al Mashat met with UNCTAD Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan on the sidelines of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4), taking place in Spain from 29 June to 3 July 2025. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Egypt and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), particularly in areas of economic development and investment. Al Mashat expressed appreciation for the partnership with UNCTAD in producing the 2024 World Investment Report, which highlights global trends in foreign direct investment (FDI). She noted the importance of the report in positioning Egypt as one of the most attractive destinations for investment, citing recent economic reforms. The meeting also addressed the use of UNCTAD tools to measure the impact of development policies and support strategies for trade and investment promotion.
