Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel El-Wazir said on Sunday that the government is accelerating work on industrial zones, new cities and a modern transport network to drive economic growth and create jobs across the country. Speaking at the Builders of Egypt forum, El-Wazir highlighted that the government's infrastructure drive is unlocking opportunities in agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing. "We're connecting Egypt's cities, industrial zones, ports and farmlands through a national plan that links everything together. Without this, there's no way to deliver growth where it's needed," he said. El-Wazir pointed to progress on Egypt's national roads program, which includes 7,000 kilometers of new highways and upgrades to 10,000 kilometers of existing routes. He cited the expansion of the Western Desert Road and other key corridors that aim to improve access to remote regions and encourage investment. "Our new industrial zones in places like Borg El Arab and near Alexandria are starting to attract factories and businesses. The infrastructure is ready, and investors are beginning to move in," El-Wazir said, adding that coordination between ministries is ensuring projects move quickly from planning to execution. The minister stressed that Egypt's westward expansion is creating room for new cities and economic activity. "By next year, God willing, you'll see factories operating, jobs created, and new communities coming to life," he said. El-Wazir urged private sector cooperation to help deliver on the government's ambitious plans. "Every day, we're implementing the national vision. The work is massive, but essential for Egypt's future," he added. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: Y.Yasser
