Cabinet approves private free zone project for metro parts, cables in Borg El Arab
Published in Daily News Egypt on 23 - 03 - 2025

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly chaired a meeting of the ministerial group for industrial development, which was attended by key ministers from Egypt's economic group and other relevant authorities. During this session, approval was granted for a new project under the private free zone system: Alstom Railways Components Manufacturing S.A.E., which aims to establish an industrial complex in the logistics and industrial zone of Borg El Arab.
The project involves the construction of two factories on a 40-feddan site. One factory will be dedicated to producing spare parts for Metro Line 6, while the other will focus on manufacturing cables. This initiative is expected to contribute significantly to Egypt's transportation infrastructure and support the growing demand for metro system components.
In addition to the Borg El Arab project, Minister of Transport Kamel Al-Wazir presented updates on the ongoing efforts to utilize 1,200 feddans of land surrounding the sanitary landfill in 10th of Ramadan City. The plan involves establishing a series of factories to recycle landfill waste into valuable products such as interlock tiles, biogas, fertilizers, and other materials. Al-Wazir also discussed investment requests from companies interested in setting up waste recycling stations within the project's scope.
Furthermore, Al-Wazir reviewed the status of the Integrated Waste Management Complex project in 10th of Ramadan City. This project aligns with Egypt's Vision 2030 and aims to modernize waste treatment infrastructure. He highlighted the ongoing work on utility connections, the construction of internal roads, the establishment of a primary wastewater treatment plant, and the creation of irrigation networks for green spaces.
Madbouly directed that a clear plan be developed for the targeted factories within the waste management project, detailing their planned production capacities and prioritizing the required utility networks to ensure the project's success. Additionally, the meeting discussed plans for the Iron and Steel Company and the Coke Company in the Tebbin area, following the President's approval to allocate these lands for environmentally friendly industrial activities.
Minister Al-Wazir also presented an update on the Automotive Production Incentive Program and the National Program for Automotive Industry Development. The session included discussions on key observations and proposed recommendations to strengthen Egypt's automotive industry.
This collective effort reflects Egypt's commitment to industrial development, environmental sustainability, and advancing infrastructure projects that will enhance the nation's long-term economic growth.
