Egypt has secured its natural gas needs with the arrival of additional floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) and expects further boosts in domestic energy production in the coming months, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said on Wednesday. Speaking at a press conference in Cairo, Prime Minister Madbouly said Egypt now has three FSRUs within its territory — one already operating and two more set to be fully operational by the end of June. "By the end of this month, we will have covered our natural gas needs," he said, adding that the new units will help meet the demands of both the electricity and industrial sectors. The prime minister warned of risks from regional instability. "If the conflict escalates into a broader regional war, we could see unprecedented spikes in energy prices or difficulties securing supplies," he said. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
