Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on Tuesday reviewed the latest progress on power infrastructure works supporting the country's New Delta and agricultural land reclamation projects, part of a national drive to boost food security and expand cultivated areas. During a meeting with senior officials from the Ministry of Electricity, the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, and the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority, the prime minister emphasised the strategic importance of accelerating electrical supply works to ensure timely delivery of the New Delta megaproject. The New Delta initiative is one of Egypt's largest agricultural expansion programs, aiming to reclaim hundreds of thousands of feddans of land in the northwestern desert using advanced irrigation and energy infrastructure. Deputy Minister of Electricity Sabah Mashaly presented detailed updates on the electrical grid rollout, including the construction of three new transformer stations near the eastern Rashid Branch and five additional stations in the New Delta zone. Mashaly said power connection lines and medium-voltage cables were advancing steadily, with priority stations and their linkage routes nearing completion. She noted that the electricity supply is being tailored to meet the specific demands of large-scale agricultural development under the Future of Egypt Programme. Prime Minister Madbouly called for close coordination among all implementing bodies to overcome logistical hurdles and fast-track power delivery, describing the infrastructure rollout as essential to unlocking the full potential of the New Delta and ensuring the long-term success of Egypt's land reclamation efforts.
