European stocks rose on Tuesday, led by gains in defence shares following US President Donald Trump's threat of further sanctions on Russia. The positive mood was also supported by relief over the rollback of tariffs on the region. The pan-European STOXX 600 index climbed 0.44 per cent by 10:11 GMT. Germany's DAX outperformed with a 0.82 per cent increase, boosted by strong consumer sentiment data. France's CAC 40 rose 0.23 per cent, while Spain's IBEX 35 slipped 0.03 per cent.
