Egypt's Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) Chairman Mokhtar Abdel Latif inspected the construction sites of solid waste recycling plants in Kafr El-Sheikh and Dosouq cities in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, a Cabinet statement said. The plants are being built by the Arab British Dynamics Company (ABD), one of AOI's subsidiaries, as part of the Kitchener Drain Rehabilitation Project (solid waste programme), funded by EBRD. Abdel Latif praised the constructive cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development and the EBRD. The national drive to implement a new municipal solid waste management system in Egypt aims to improve environmental and health conditions, reduce pollution, establish a waste management industry, and create job opportunities. This plan aligns with Egypt's Sustainable Development Strategy and Vision 2030. He confirmed that ABD is committed to completing the projects on time. The company is building four waste treatment plants in Dakahlia and Kafr El-Sheikh, and a fifth plant in Refa, Assiut Governorate. The Kafr El-Sheikh plants are located in the cities of Dosouq, El-Hamoul, and Kafr El-Sheikh, while the fourth plant is in Belqas, Dakahlia Governorate. Each plant will have a daily processing capacity of 600 tons of solid waste. He stated that the four plants are designed to meet standard specifications, environmental requirements, and have an appealing aesthetic. The initiative aims to enhance local manufacturing of equipment by leveraging global expertise and utilising AOI's factories' collaborative capabilities.
