Egypt's Universal Health Insurance Authority (UHIA), in cooperation with e-Health company, has launched the nation's first electronic system for pricing medical services under the comprehensive health insurance scheme. The UHIA's Pricing Committee for Medical Services confirmed that e-Health has completed phase one of Egypt's first automated platform for calculating healthcare service costs, as per a Cabinet statement. This system ensures accurate pricing operations by implementing accounting principles and standards, which directly impact the authority's contracting and purchasing processes with medical service providers. e-Health representatives showcased the platform's current capabilities, including its ability to provide standardised prices that can be flexibly updated in line with all changes in cost elements, according to the statement. The platform also supports the implementation of all pricing methodologies approved by the Committee, whether cost-based pricing with profit margin or market comparison approaches, the statement added.
