President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed regional developments, particularly the situation in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, during a phone call with Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi on Saturday. Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's support for all regional and international initiatives aimed at reaching a political settlement to the crisis, with the goal of restoring stability to the region. The two leaders also discussed ways to enhance cooperation among Nile Basin countries in a manner that serves their mutual interests. They stressed the importance of consensus among the basin states to promote cooperation and capitalise on available opportunities for shared development. The conversation highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between Egypt and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Both sides expressed keenness to expand these relations, particularly in economic and developmental fields.
