Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 26 - 12 - 2020

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi held a phone conversation, on Saturday, with his Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) counterpart Felix Tshisekedi, to discuss issues of regional and African concern.
During the phone call, Al-Sisi renewed Egypt's support for the DRC, as well as his country's aspiration to raise the level of political consultation with the fellow African country.
"Egypt will continue its developmental efforts in DRC," the president said according to an official statement from the presidential office.
Both Al-Sisi and Tshisekedi exchanged views on a number of regional and continental issues of mutual interest, as the DRC will take over as the next chair of the African Union (AU) in 2021.
For his part, the DRC president expressed his keenness on boosting relations with Egypt, and expressed his country's appreciation for the matter's support of stability and development in his country.
In a previous meeting between the two leaders in 2019, Tshisekedi affirmed the DRC's support for Egypt's position regarding River Nile waters issue.
Al-Sisi also affirmed that Egypt will remain a supportive friend to the Democratic Republic of Congo, and will work to assist the country's citizens at the political and developmental levels. He added this will continue during the DRC's chairmanship of the AU, as well as within the ongoing bilateral cooperation so as to preserve their unity and territorial integrity.
