Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 03 - 03 - 2013

Etisalat, the UAE's leading telecommunications operator, was a major highlight among global telecom companies at the annual event Mobile World Congress 2013 as it showcased its achievements in building the most advanced telecom infrastructure in the region and worldwide.
Mobile World Congress 2013 was held from 25th -28th February, 2013 at Barcelona, Spain. The exhibition and conference witnessed the attendance of major telecom companies, high profile global industry experts from the telecom and IT sectors and also a chance to view the latest technologies on display by the global operators and vendors in the ICT services and solutions sector.
Saleh Abdullah Al Abdooli, CEO Etisalat said: “Mobile World Congress presents an opportunity in showcasing our world class products and solutions as well as connect with major ICT players. This also provides a platform to explore new partnerships and opportunities. The event helped in differentiating ourselves among competitors highlighting our long-term value and 35 years' experience in providing telecom solutions along with renowned partners from global markets.
“This was only possible due to the investments made over the years in our network. Over the past four years $19 billion was invested in building the most advanced fiber optic network. This has facilitated in positioning UAE among the top countries globally in ICT development and readiness."
The success in deploying the 4G LTE network has grabbed global attention as it launched 4G LTE network last year to become the first in the region. This has covered 80 per cent of the populated area in UAE. During the fourth quarter of 2012 Etisalat successfully conducted the fastest 4G LTE test in the world where it was able to reach a speed of 300 megabit per second.
Etisalat's pavilion witnessed large numbers of visitors from the telecom sector to gain a better understanding of its comprehensive ICT solutions that reflect its leading position in the UAE and international markets.
