Five police personnel were wounded Tuesday in a blast caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) in North Sinai's Rafah city, Al Bawaba News reported. Security source said that the police personnel were trying to defuse the IED but it exploded. The wounded elements, whose names have not yet released, were transferred immediately to Arish Military Hospital for treatment. Since September 2013, Egyptian army and police have been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against terrorist groups in Sinai after they claimed responsibility for several deadly attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel.
