An Egyptian army soldier was killed and two others were wounded Sunday in a terrorist attack targeting an armored vehicle in North Sinai's city of Sheikh Zuweid, Al-Bawaba News reported. Security sources said that an improvised explosive device was planted on one of Sheikh Zuweid's Karam Al-Qawadees neighborhood roads, pointing out that the two wounded soldiers were transferred immediately to the hospital for treatment. Since September 2013, the Egyptian army has been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against terrorist groups in Sinai after they had claimed responsibility for several attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel.
