I refuse to imprison any writer: Al-Namnam

Egypt's Minister of Culture Helmy al-Namnam, announced that he refused to sign 16 judicial seizures against intellectuals, adding that he opposes the imprisonment of any writer because of his opinion, Al-Bawaba News reported Sunday.
He congratulated Alexandrian citizens, on Saturday, on the opening of the International Book fair, which runs until March 7.
We will organize a fair next summer in collaboration with the A and Alexandria University, he added.
State-sponsored competitions on novel and short story will be held during the fair, he indicated, adding a plan to develop the cultural palaces in Upper Egypt will be launched to develop the culture of the community.
