Spokesperson for Egypt's Military, Mohamed Samir said Thursday evening the army exchanged fire with a number of militants who attacked a security checkpoint southern Sheikh Zuwaid, North Sinai, killing 30 militants and injuring 10 others. The military forces managed to destroy eight farms used by the terrorists and three SUV vehicles as well as Verna vehicle and motorcycle also used by the terrorist elements, Samir said in a press release. The attack left four army personnel dead and eight others injured. In addition, three armored vehicles were destroyed during a security campaign conducted against several terrorist hotbeds in villages of Sheikh Zuwaid, North Sinai, causing great losses to militants. Samir added the ongoing crackdown would not end until the Sinai Peninsula was cleansed of terrorists.
