Egyptian army killed 96 militants and arrested five others in North Sinai's Rafah and Sheikh Zuweid cities, Al Bawaba News reported Monday. The army had launched several raids and airstrikes by Apache jet fighters targeting terrorist hideouts in the two cities, killing 96 militants including 70 militants from Islamic State-related Wilayat Sinai group. It also succeeded to destroy 14 motorcycles, two weapons storage, 30 terrorist outposts and four vehicles, as well as defusing 44 improvised explosive devices. Since September 2013, the Egyptian army has been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against terrorist groups in Sinai after they claimed responsibility for several deadly attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel.
