Giza Criminal Court, presided by Judge Mohamed Nagy Shehata, sentenced Ahmed Hassan Kharat to life in prison on Saturday, and to be fined EGP 20 thousand, over burning a church in Kerdasa neighborhood, Giza, Al-Bawaba News reported. As well as the arson charges, the defendant faces charges of illegally seizing weapons, joining the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group and inciting violence, alongside 72 other defendants in Aug. 2013. Life sentence in Egyptian law lasts for 25 years in prison.
