A Fatah official in the southern Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh was assassinated Saturday by unidentified gunmen, a security source told Reuters. The source said three gunmen targeted Talal al-Urduni, a Fatah Movement security official, and his bodyguard in the Kinayat neighborhood of the camp. The two men succumbed to their wounds shortly after reaching the small Al-Nidaa Al-Insani Hospital inside Ain al-Hilweh. Their bodies are expected to be moved to Sidon's Al-Hamshari Hospital, which is affiliated with the Red Crescent, to be examined by forensic experts as Lebanese security forces launch their investigations. This was not the first assassination attempt against Urduni. In May 2014, he escaped a bombing that targeted his convoy in the camp. Two people were wounded in the incident. Urduni was known to have had tense relations with Islamists in the camp, especially with Fatah al-Islam.
