Unidentified attackers killed two police officers and severely injured another Saturday morning near Al Arish, North Sinai, medical and security sources said. The three officers were driving on the Sinai international coastal road when unidentified gunmen in a small car opened fire on them in El Masaeed district west of Al Arish, the sources added. The deceased officers immediately succumbed to their wounds while being treated at the hospital, the third one is in critical condition, the medical sources added. Egypt's Sinai Peninsula has witnessed repeated and deadly attacks by Islamist radicals targeting police checkpoints and army vehicles in the Arish and Sheikh Zuwaid areas. The Egyptian army has been carrying out an on-going and wide military campaign against terrorist groups in North Sinai since MB president Mohamed Morsi's ouster in 2013, including imposing a curfew and constructing a buffer zone with the Gaza Strip.
