The Iraqi army and U.S. led international coalition killed Monday 40 Islamic State jihadist group (IS) militants in Al Anbar Governorate, according to security reports. Security sources in Al Anbar said that Iraqi warplanes targeted IS positions in Ramadi, killing 30 militants, adding that local security forces killed 3 militants in Al Almein district. The sources added that the international coalition warplanes targeted IS sites in Zuwya town at Forat district, killing 7 militants including 2 of the group leaders. Since 2014, Al Anbar has been witnessing fierce clashes between Iraqi military forces and IS militants, after being occupied by the extreme group.
