Airports business flourishes at Easter The unique Egyptian Easter has proved to attract holiday makers to Egyptian destinations. Being a mix of a religious fair for the Egyptian Christians and a traditional ancient pharaonic festival, Sham El-Nasim, Easter in Egypt has been shared for hundreds of years by all the Egyptians, Muslims, Christians and even foreigners who settled in Egypt for decades. As a result, Egyptian airports have witnessed a remarkable increase of traffic at tourist destinations by thousands of holiday makers. An official report by the Egyptian Aviation Ministry said that three airports received 73,000 passengers in three days. Those airports are the Red Sea's two tourist cities, Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurgada airports and Alexandria's Borg Alarqb airport. Sharm El-Sheikh received 36,000 passengers, Hurgada received 32,000 passengers while Borga Al Arab got 5,000," explained Gad El-Kareem Nasr, head of the Egyptian airports company which operates and supervises all the Egyptian airport except for Cairo International. According to Nasr, the increase exceeded 140 per cent in compare to the same period last year. Ironically, even with this increase the movement is still 35 per cent less than the same period in 2010. On the other hand, Cairo International revealed figures showing a remarkable increase of traffic over the Easter days. A total of 61,600 passengers arrived and left through the airport arrival and departure halls. According to engineer Magdi Badr, chairman of Cairo International company, travel movement is as normal as for the international flights. "Domestic flights witnessed a remarkable increase to tourist destinations sought by holiday makers. Over the Easter three-day holiday, we operated 1200 domestic and international flights," he commented . Emirates on Facebook Emirates Airlines has officially launched its Facebook page, attracting over 300,000 fans within the first three week. Emirates clients can now connect and engage with the airline directly through Facebook. The Emirates Facebook page soft launch occurred on 25 March in preparation for the 2 April launch of the airlines' new global brand platform "Hello Tomorrow". "Emirates new brand platform Hello Tomorrow is connecting people and cultures by creating relevant and meaningful experiences and Facebook is a proven mechanism to do just that," said said Saeed Khalifa bin Sulaiman, Emirates manager in Egypt "Our Facebook page is part of the vision we have for the future growth of the airline, so it's very encouraging to see that the page has broken records in our first few weeks and is being received so positively by our fans who are engaging with us.
