Thurs 2 March, 8pm: The European-Egyptian Contemporary Music Society (EECMS) celebrates 2017 as the year of women and their achievements in all walks of life. For that, the EECMS organises a number of events celebrating “Women Composers of Our Time” starting 27 February to 2 March. The Society also collaborates with a number of prominent associations and forums to cover for a wide range of themes, topics and questions related to the umbrella topic of Women, Arts, Culture and Music. The “Women Composers of Our Time” concert will feature works by composers Kajia Saariaho (Finland), Isabel Mundry (Germany), Seung-won Oh (Korea), 
Tansey Davis (The UK) and Yara Mikkawei (Egypt), accompanied by the Egyptian Contemporary Music Ensemble, conducted by Peter Tilling.

Sat 25, 10.30pm: The Arabic reggae band Meshwar, together with the independent Egyptian Hawas band present alternative music which aims at exploring new musical dimensions. 
Sun 26, 10.30pm: Shereen Abdo is well known in the indie scene for her oriental singing style. In her new project Jazzy Me, she will be performing her favourites -and yours-by Frank Sinatra, Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone among others. Abdo's powerful voice, paired with sounds of piano, bass and percussions- a performance which promises to take you back in time!
Mon 27, 10pm: Mohasseb will be laying down the usual musical goodness, but with a little help from his friends! Joining him for this evening will be none other than Veteran DJ and crowd favourite Ali Goede.

“Women Composers of Our Time” event, explores the situation of women in music and especially the field of composition in different cultures from three different angles – in the course of a panel discussion, a talk at the university, and a women composers' portrait. The programme will include compositions by Bushra Al Turk (Lebanon/UK), Kaija Saariaho (Finland). Anahita Abbasi (Iran), Isabel Mundry (Germany), Seung-Won Oh (South Korea), Tansy Davies (UK) as a collaboration with Egyptian sound artist Yara Mekawei. The women and Memory forum in Cairo with its fruitful research achievements that have been taking place since 1995 is featured in the roundtable discussion hosted at Goethe-Institut Cairo where researchers intend to touch upon themes related to women in the history of art and the importance of documentation, oral history and storytelling in relationship to the visibility of women composers in different epochs. The roundtable discussion will also feature other artists, critics and musicologists.

Tues 28, 6-10.30pm: The US Embassy in Cairo presents this year's American Music Abroad concert under the title “Al Hakawatya” (storytelling through music). 
The concert brings to Egypt for the first time American Jazz musician Chelsey Green and her band the Green Project. Chelsey and the band are Jazz artists who have a unique contemporary approach to this heritage form of American music. Playing with Chelsey from Egypt is the well-known indie/folk Egyptian singer Dina El Wedidi, who has a similar approach to reinventing Egyptian traditional music. Chelsey and Dina will present their original work, as well as a collaborative fusion which will be played for the first time during the concert. The fusion is produced by Grammy-winner pianist Fathy Salama. (ID must be presented for admission and the venue is wheelchairs-friendly, ticket is for LE70).
