Mahmoud Mokhtar Culture Centre Isis Hall is delighted to present a huge number of aquarelle paintings by the distinguished artist Galal Al-Husseini in his exhibition entitled “Forms of Art over Fifty Years.” In these works Al-Husseini as a seasoned traveler continues to fuse his impressions and passions with his archive of landscapes which he has collected during his several visits to Egypt's eastern and western desert oases such as Siwa, Al-Dakhla and Al-Kharga, Aswan, Sinai and some of the most fascinating historic Ethiopian cities. By documenting all the natural scenes he encountered during his tours and were impressed by its palette of colours, he entreats the viewer to re-perceive these scenes which he depicted in vividness. Among tens of artistic trends, Al-Husseini chose modern realism through which he tremendously contributed to the art scene in Egypt with around nine solo exhibitions and ten collective exhibitions. Al-Husseini employs such layering of aquarelle throughout his landscapes: an image of a group of palm trees overlooking the Nile, a garden full of flowers with a jar of clay in the facade. Born in 1935, Al-Husseini graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Helwan University, architecture department, the class of 1960. He lives and works in Egypt. His artistic career began in 1967 when he first explored the world of oil painting and his works were then overwhelmed by a gloomy and grim atmosphere. However, lately he tends to use bright optimistic colours depicting roses and flowers and ravishingly beautiful landscapes. He has acquisitions in Egypt, Arab, European countries and in the United States. The exhibition is running through 5 May.
