Egypt Golf Series 2026 launched with 13 tournaments and $750,000 prize pool
Published in Daily News Egypt on 08 - 01 - 2026

The Egyptian Golf Federation has announced the launch of the "Egypt Golf Series 2026," a 13-tournament international professional circuit scheduled between January and April 2026 with a total prize fund of $750,000.
Egyptian Golf Federation President Omar Hisham Talaat unveiled the series during a press conference at Madinaty Golf Club on Wednesday, attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy. Egypt Golf Series 2026 will be held under the auspices of the MENA Tour, the Alps Tour, and the Pro Golf Tour, marking what Omar Hisham Talaat described as the largest professional tournament agenda in the history of the sport in Egypt.
The tournaments are set to take place at several venues including New Giza, Madinaty, Sokhna, Dreamland, Marassi, and Allegria. The federation expects hundreds of professional players from over 35 countries to participate. Talaat stated the series is designed to provide Egyptian professional players the opportunity to earn Official World Golf Ranking points domestically, facilitating qualification for international tours and the Olympic Games.
Omar Hisham Talaat reported that the federation has achieved a total administrative, technical, and financial transformation in less than a year. He noted that the organisation transitioned from a financial deficit to a surplus within seven months, with the funds reinvested into development programmes, junior pathways, and national teams.
According to the president, the federation's strategy is built on five priorities: increasing public participation, talent development, building national expertise, hosting global events, and ensuring financial sustainability. He cited a 30% growth in active players and a doubling of amateur practitioners, attributed to school programmes and increased activity at training centres.
The announcement follows the final quarter of 2025, which Omar Hisham Talaat termed a "golden era" for Egyptian golf. During that period, the federation organised four major events in four weeks, including the 104th Egyptian Amateur Open, the Egyptian Ladies and Junior Open, and the return of the Egyptian Open to Madinaty after a 15-year absence.
The 13 tournaments in the 2026 series are projected to attract approximately 2,000 international visitors, including players and technical staff, resulting in more than $5.5m in direct spending within the local economy. The federation further expects the events to generate tens of thousands of hotel nights and reach a global media audience of over 15m viewers.
Omar Hisham Talaat said the recent broadcasting of tournaments reached over 1m viewers via television and digital platforms, which he claimed has bolstered international investment and tourism interest in Egypt. He concluded that the "Egypt Golf Series 2026" aims to establish the country as the primary regional hub for the sport in the Middle East and Africa.
