Egypt to get fans boost against Ghana
Cairo's Air Defence stadium will be packed when the Pharaohs host Ghana on 19 November
Published in Ahram Online on 22 - 10 - 2013

Egypt's Ministry of Defence has given the green light for 30,000 supporters to attend the second-leg of the World Cup qualifying playoff against Ghana.
The Pharaohs, who experienced a 6-1 humiliating defeat in the first-leg in Kumasi last week, are due to host the Ghanaians at Cairo's Air Defence stadium on 19 November.
Earlier in September, Sports Minister Taher Abou-Zeid announced that fans would be allowed to attend the match after being banned from recent games due to security concerns.
"The ministry of defence informed us in an official letter that the full capacity of Cairo's Air Defence stadium (30,000 supporters) will be allowed to attend the match," the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) spokesman Azmy Megahed said on Tuesday.
Earlier this month, the Ghanaian Football Association (GFA) demanded FIFA move the second-leg outside Egypt due to the country's ongoing security difficulties.
FIFA has given Egypt until 28 October to provide "comprehensive security assurances" for the match.
Egypt's dream of reaching the first World Cup since 1990 is almost out of sight after the heavy defeat in Ghana last week.
The Egyptian team will be seeking a win in the second-leg to boost millions of Egyptians who were shocked by the heavy score and dismayed at losing their World Cup dream.
