Cameroon lost their place as Group I leader in World Cup qualifiers after losing 2-0 to minnows Togo on Sunday. Togo forward Komlan Amewou opened the scoring for the hosts in the 32nd minute, while midfielder Lala Atakora added a second in the 70th minute. Libya, who were held to a goalless draw by DR Congo on Friday, advanced to the top of the group with six points, while Cameroon fell to second place. Earlier in the day, Algeria took one step closer to Brazil with a 3-1 away win over Benin in Group H. Striker Islam Slimani scored twice – in the 38th and 42nd minutes – and his teammate Nabil Ghilas added a third in the 78th minute. Following to Sunday's win, Algeria secured their place as Group H leader with nine points – three clear off second-placed Mali, who will face Rwanda later on Sunday. Africa Cup of Nations' runner-up Burkina Faso, meanwhile, kept hope alive for the qualifiers after a 1-0 away win overNiger, thanks to JonathanPitroipa who scored the winnerin the game's 81st minute. Burkina Faso advanced to second place in Group E with six points, four behind group leaders Congo.
