Zamalek reject Sion's initial offer for promising forward Ibrahim Swiss side Sion are interested in signing Zamalek's highly-rated forward Mohamed Ibrahim, the Cairo club demand higher offer
Zamalek have rejected a $350,000 offer from Swiss side Sion to sign promising forward Mohamed Ibrahim, the Cairo club said on Sunday. "Zamalek have sent a letter to Sion and the player's agent, asking them to make a higher offer," the White Knights said in a statement on their official website. Ibrahim rose to prominence with a series of impressive displays this season, playing a key role in helping Zamalek make their best-ever Egyptian Premier League start. The 21-year-old, who scored four goals in 12 league appearances and created several others for his teammates, is lauded for his penetrating skills and trickery. He has become a regular member of Egypt's senior team squad under American coach Bob Bradley. "The player should be highly valued, given his young age and the capabilities he boasts. He is also an Egyptian international player," Zamalek added. Zamalek might be tempted to offload Ibrahim should Sion improve their bid, given their financial woes which prompted Brazilian coach Jorvan Vieira, who has turned around the club's fortunes since his arrival last year, to announce that he would not renew his contract, which runs out at the end of the season. Should Ibrahim move to Sion, he will be the third Egyptian to play in the Swiss league, joining compatriots Mohamed Salah and Mohamed El-Neny who steered Basel FC to their fourth consecutive league title on Saturday.
