Egyptian professor awarded Greece's Order of Republic

Cairo University professor to receive Order of Republic by Greek President Karolos Papoulias for his contribution to field of classical, contemporary Greek studies

Greek President Karolos Papoulias has rewarded the country's prestigious Order of the Republic to Egyptian professor Abdel-Moati Sharawi for the latter's academic contributions to the field of classical and contemporary Greek studies.
Sharawi is a professor at Cairo University's faculty of humanities.
Greek Ambassador to Egypt Chris Lazaris announced the move on Monday during the embassy's celebrations of Greek Independence Day.
Sharawi earned a Bachelor Degree fromCairo University's faculty of humanities in 1956 and a PhD from the British Univeristy of Bristol in 1967.
