Veteran stopper Gomaa out of Ahly training, Abdel-Fadil returns Sherif Abdel-Fadil returns to boost the Red Devils defense ahead of the Nigerian test against Sunshine Stars
Veteran defender Wael Gomaa missed Ahly's training session on Saturday as he suffers from stomach pains, the Cairo giants announced. "Gomaa missed today's training session due to a sudden pain in his stomach but he will be available for trainings from Sunday," the club announced in a statement on its official website Saturday morning. The six-time African Champions League title holders are preparing for the home match against Nigeria's Sunshine Stars on 21 October in the secong leg of the CAF Champions League semis. The return of injured defender Sherif Abdel-Fadil to the training sessions Saturday could act as good boost for the Red Devils a head of the anticipated clash. "Abdel-Fadil featured in today's training without any problems. He will take part in the coming training sessions gradually to avoid renewing the muscular strain that kept him out of action since our return from Nigeria," Ahly's doctor Ihab Aly explained. Injured duo left-back Sayed Moawad and Ivorian striker Oussou Konan have totally recovered and will be available for trainings from Sunday according to the doctor. Midfielder Walid Soliman, who is suffering from a knee injury, is continuing his rehab program alongside Ahmed Adel and Mahmoud Hassan "Trezeguet" who are suffering minor injuries. Ahly's first leg against Sunshine Stars finished in a 3-3 draw in Nigeria last week.
