Playmaker El-Saied out of Ahly's champions League clash Injury-plagued Ahly team lose another player ahead of Champions League game in Addis Ababa, after recovering midfielder Abdallah El-Said is hurt during Tuesday's training session
Playmaker Abdallah El-Said will miss Ahly's round of 32 African Champions League game against Ethiopian Coffee on 25 March due to an injury, the Cairo giants announced on Wednesday. The player, who sustained a thigh muscular tear over a month ago, was on course to recover in time to make the anticipated game but was injured again during Tuesday's training session. “Abdallah El-Saied will not be available for the match. He will start a rehab program so that he is fit for the second leg two weeks later,” Ahly's Dr EhabAli told the club's official website. Ahly, which has won the Champions League a record six times, is already missing the services of strikers Dominic Da Silva and Emad Meteb, alongside defender Wael Goma'a due to different injuries. It is still in doubt whether midfielder Hossam Ashour will be fit to play in the match. However the team has confirmed veteran Mohamed Barakat will play after making a complete recovery.
