Palestinian Fatah delegation to attend ex-spy chief funeral in Egypt
A delegation from Palestine's Fatah, who Mubarak's regime greatly supported, is to hold a two-day diplomatic visit in Egypt and attend ex-spy chief Omar Suleiman's funeral Saturday

A Palestinian delegation headed by Azzam Al-Ahmed, head of the Fatah Parliament bloc will attend the funeral of ex-intelligence chief Omar Suleiman Saturday afternoon.
The delegation will officially represent the Palestinian Authority in the military funeral that will be held for the longtime intelligence chief who died Thursday while undergoing medical tests in the United States.
The Fatah delegation arrived in Cairo on Saturday for a two-day diplomatic visit.
Suleiman was appointed head of Egyptian intelligence in 1993. During his 18-year tenure, which ended early 2011 following the popular uprising. In the final years of Mubarak's reign, Suleiman was one of the key architects of the blockade of the Gaza Strip.
Fatah had a very close relationship with Egypt during Mubarak's rule, in contrast to Palestine's more radical group, Hamas. Suleiman was at the helm of many important political issues, primarily the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He also brokered the recent reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas.
