Brahms and Mahler with the Cairo Symphony Orchestra
In a tribute to the centenary of Mahler's death, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra will perform his Symphony No. 4 in G Major, as well as a well-known Brahms' violin concerto

The Cairo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Mina Zikri with soloists: Mona Rafla (soprano) and Mohamed Sharara (violin) will perform Brahms: Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D Major, Op. 77 and Mahler: Symphony No. 4 in G Major.
2011 is marked by the centenary of the death of Gustav Mahler (1860 – 1911). The Cairo Symphony Orchestra plans to perform Mahler's works on several occasions throughout the year. On Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 January, the orchestra will perform his Symphony no. 4. The composer incorporated the song, "Das himmlische Leben" in the last movement of the symphony, which will be sung by solo soprano Mona Rafla.
The Cairo Symphony Orchestra will provide more Mahler concerts during the year, with a few of them scheduled in May, a month specifically marked by Mahler's death. Ahmed El Saeedy will conduct Mahler's Symphony no. 1 on 14 May.
Johannes Brahms Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D Major is not only one of the best-known violin concertos in the history of music, but also one of the most demanding works of the violin repertoire. The audience has a treat in store when it will be played by violinist Mohamed Sharara. We still recall its masterful performance in June 2010 by soloist Nazrin Rachidova,
