Tunisia's Esperance forward Taha Yassine Khenissi was hit with a one-year ban by CAF over a doping offence, the African governing body announced on Wednesday. "The CAF DC has suspended Taha Yassine Khenissi of Esperance de Tunis for a period of twelve months (one year) from the date of provisional suspension, 19 May 2021, for violating anti-doping rules," CAF said in a statement. "Taha Yassine Khenissi had tested positive for a WADA prohibited substance during the Total CAF Champions League between MC Alger and Esperance of Tunisia on 10 May 2021." CAF also handed out one-year bans for MC Alger duo Abdelnour Belkheir and Ahmed Boutagga after they "kicked the referee in the leg" during a Champions League quarter-final clash against Morocco's Wydad earlier this month. Khenissi, 29, scored a goal and created another in nine Champions League appearances with Esperance this season. The Tunisian side face reigning champions Ahly of Egypt in a two-legged semi-final clash later this month.
