The African Champions League final between Tunisia's Esperance and Wydad Casablanca in Rades was stopped on the hour mark on Friday after the Moroccan side were harshly denied a legitimate goal. Esperance led 1-0 through a first-half goal from Youcef Belaili before Walid El Karti brought Wydad level with a header on 59 minutes, only to be denied by the linesman's offside flag. Television replays showed that El Karti was clearly onside but Gambian referee Bakary Gassama did not check a video reply although the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology was introduced in the final. Reports said the VAR was not working. CAF president Ahmad Ahmad stepped onto the pitch and was seen consulting with a host of officials. More details to follow.
