The health ministry has denied, according to Al-Ahram Arabic website, that three people were killed on Friday when a seven-storey building collapsed in eastern Alexandria, as MENA state news agency had earlier reported. Rescue teams and the civil protection authority are still searching for injured or dead bodies, while local media reported two families were trapped in the rubble, MENA had reported. Executive authorities in the governorate are still working on initial loss count report. MENA described the building as “old” and said the accident occurred in the city's Mostafa Kamel district. Rescue workers evacuated nearby buildings to ensure the safety of citizens, MENA reported, while rescue teams equipped with heavy machinery were deployed to remove the rubble. The Alexandrian governor ordered the formation of an engineering committee to investigate the incident.
