An Egyptian female pop singer was sentenced on Tuesday to two years in prison for "inciting debauchery and immorality" for participating in a sexually suggestive music video. A Cairo misdemeanour court also ordered Shaymaa Ahmed, known as Sheema, to pay a fine of EGP 10,000 (approximately $560). The director of the clip was also handed the same sentence. The verdict can be appealed. In the video for the song "I Have Issues," the little-known singer engaged in sexually suggestive behaviour, sparking controversy and outrage in the country. Last month, Sheema apologised for the video in a Facebook post, saying she did not expect such a backlash.
