Egyptian-based striker John Antwi earned his first call-up to Ghana's squad while Ayew brothers, Andre and Jordan, were left out of the crucial World Cup qualifier away to Uganda. Uganda host Ghana in Kampala on 7 October as both sides are looking for a win to keep their hopes alive in the World Cup qualifiers. Ghana are third in Group E with five points, four behind leaders Egypt and two behind second-placed Uganda. They aim to beat Uganda and hope Egypt do not defeat bottom side Congo if they are to have a chance to reach next year's Russia finals. The Black Stars' roster included striker John Antwi, who is enjoying a fine run with Maqassa in the Egyptian Premier League. The Ahly striker, who was loaned to Maqssa last January, has scored 11 goals with Maqassa so far this year. The 25-year-old is joined by three other strikers in the squad: Asamoah Gyan, Raphael Dwamena and Richmond Boakye Yiadom. Defender Daniel Opare has returned to the squad for the first time since the 2014 World Cup in Brazil following some fine displays with German Bundesliga side Augsburg. Ayew Brothers Andre and Jordan were dropped from the squad for the second consecutive game as they were both absent when Ghana thrashed Congo 5-1 last month.
