Four-time African champions Ghana hammered Ethiopia 5-0 on Sunday in Accra to move to the top of Group J in the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers. Skipper Asamoah Gyan opened the scoring after only 10 minutes to net his 50th goal for his country. Defender John Boye doubled the lead in the 14th minute and Ebenzer Ofori added to the tally in the 41th minute to put the game beyond reach for the visitors. After the interval, on-form Raphael Dwamena, who was chosen over Jordan Ayew in the starting lineup, hit a brace at the 48 and 60 minute-mark, repaying the faith of coach Kwesi Appiah. The Black Stars top the group on goal difference, ahead of Sierra Leone who beat Kenya 2-1 on Saturday. Earlier in the day, Benin defeated Gambia 1-0 in Group D, courtesy of a strike from Stephan Sessegnon.
